3, 2, 1...

WAKE UP
The soft, rhythmic whoosh, whoosh of air is what you hear first, perhaps it's a breeze? The cyclical beep beep in the distance doesn't really jive with a lot of nature scenes, though. A moment or two later your vision comes back to you, blurry in the beginning but becoming clearer with each breath you take. All around you is an opaque blue dome, and when you can wrest your limbs to move, the blue retracts and you're met with a staid metal room.

What happened? Where are you? Your memory is fuzzier still, there being no easy way to jog it like your vision. What you can remember is that there was an accident: one minute you were in your home world, and the next you were in this foreign place surrounded by people you've never seen in your life. Not just any people—scientists, who were trying desperately to create matter, to break the laws of physics and chemistry, in order to save their world. Because their world was dying, and they had tried everything else and then some. Their experiment was a failure, but not all is lost—translocation is a valid solution, after all. They could just send all their people to a non-doomed world, and start anew. And they would have, if the machine they used to bring you here hadn't short circuited. Your combined luck isn't terrible, though, somehow, because there exists one more copy of the machine squirreled away in the space colony floating in a distant solar system somewhere, the Plan B of this dying civilization.

That's why you're here, waking up in this pod in a cloud of cold air and colder remembrances to the murmuring of other strangers around you. You don't recognize any of them (vaguely you remember something about keeping the other travelers separate for quarantine purposes), but a soothing, sonorous electronic voice interrupts your thoughts.

GOOD MORNING. WELCOME TO THE WILD DELIVERANCE. THE ONBOARD TEMPERATURE IS 25 DEGREES CENTIGRADE AND THE DAY IS SATURDAY. WE WILL BE ARRIVING AT OUR DESTINATION SHORTLY, SO PLEASE SIT BACK AND RELAX. THE CAPTAIN WELCOMES-

No I fucking don't. Wakey, wakey, you formerly comatose cryptids. We've got a bit of a problem, and no I'm not talkin' about the end of this world, or how you miss your bed and just wanna go home. It's a bit more immediate and simpler than that, ain't that grand?

There's fucking parasitic aliens on this ship and they're not friendly. Just ask our two engineers, Kelvin and Calli—wait you can't, because they're DEAD thanks to our local alien assholes.

Don't worry though, I've got a plan. But hey, if you can solve this on your own go for it—might wanna start with the basic profiles on your new fancy PDA. Maybe you can just ask someone if they're an alien? Hahahahaha.

Talk to ya later!

OOC: Welcome to Convive! All characters wake up in the pod room, completely naked, though their color coded space suit and personal effects are in a storage compartment attached to their pod. Additionally, all characters will naturally understand each other due to a totally innocuous implant!

Also, stand by to meet your friendly neighborhood NPC on Sunday at 1 PM EST. Be there or be square!

[ Giorno didn't even seem bothered by the lack of verbal response, as he led the way.

...Though, he was watching Lalli because wow that sure was a beeline. The blond will be nearby, taking stock of the room's size and the amount of crates inside. Maybe it was good to look around this room thoroughly. ]

Let me know if you find anything noteworthy, alright?

[ He'll begin to look through some of the crates himself, raising a brow at the amount of food here. ]

[Without looking away from the crate, Lalli holds up a hand and gives Gio a thumbs-up. He'll share the loot he finds.

Most of the stuff is useless for what he needs, but he does find a shovel! And that is what he is going to take. Once he's out of the crate, he'll show the shovel off to Gio too.

[ He'll give him a thumbs up. With a supposed threat around here, he actually thought it'd be good if they were armed. ]

Not a bad choice. I met someone back home who used that as a weapon too.

[ Though he figured Lalli would put his to better use than that person since said individual was no longer around. He'll then glance down back at the crates... ]

It's rather strange to see so much food here, isn't it? This is like the amount of food you'd see on some kind of high-end voyage on a ship. But still, it seems like a bit much.

[Lalli nods in agreement. So much food must mean a trip somewhere, and the slight hum to the ship tells him that this is probably moving. But to where? And for what purpose?

With his free hand, he lifts up one of the tent bags. to show it to Gio. Maybe they're going camping?

[ At least these people weren't probably inefficiently storing the food here, or for useless purposes. As annoying as it was to be "accidentally" transported here.

...Yeah, he's still annoyed about that. But the other's silent suggestion made him ponder a bit. ]

Them having tents here does make me think they may have been preparing for living in a place without convenience. So in the end, it does make sense.

I suppose we should at least grant them the fact they thought ahead in making sure there was enough provisions.

[Lalli nods in agreement and drops the tent back in the crate. Lots of food makes sense, if you're building a new settlement. He certainly has experience in that area.

He's keeping that shovel though. His now.
]

...it's useless now.

[Oh look, he can speak after all!]

[ It seems so. Giorno figured that it was highly likely he could, but...one never really knew. Either way, it's good to have a voice in a circumstance like theirs. ]

Useless? Because of what became of those two people and our current predicament, you mean?

[ He had to wonder, if there had been more people who were susceptible to the supposed 'attack', and ended up with the same fate. Really, that announcement left a lot to be desired as far as he was concerned. ]

'Parasitic aliens'.

[That's the part he has the biggest issue with. Because if there really are parasitic aliens, then how do they fight that? Just kill everybody?]

...Our situation does seem bleak, if something like that is really among us. But, I'm not going to think it's hopeless.

[ Giorno had dealt with something like a virus from a rather dangerous Stand before, and came out alive then. Though, it's true he hadn't had deal with something like this—malicious, parasitic beings that seem capable of overtaking people's bodies. If that is what it was. ]

If that captain proves to be unreliable, we'll need to start with figuring it out by how they're acting while in other people's bodies. Observing their 'tells', and then see if we could find a way to stop the control that way. Whether by quarantining them after knocking them unconscious...or using something else.

Doesn't matter. We're all around each other. We're all breathing the same air. Unless someone is immune, we all could be sick.

[Someone has definitely survived an airborne pathogen zombie infection apocalypse before!]

We all stay, until the aliens are dealt with.
requiemsoftly: (Bene)

[personal profile] requiemsoftly 2020-11-29 06:41 pm (UTC)(link)
Maybe, but we don't know how these aliens spread or infect others. I have a hunch that if we were all 'sick' or 'infected', the captain would've likely had us forcibly ejected from the ship.

[ But, he'll give a nod. There's no sense in leaving until the threat was taken care of. Though, he didn't think they had a choice given that they were in space...it's entirely possible they could reach their 'destination' before those beings were. ]

If we don't get rid of those creatures before we're able to leave, it'll be a problem for us.

A problem for everyone.

[He. Is well-acquainted with why quarantine procedures are important.

'No Mistakes', he reminds himself mentally.

By 'us' I did mean everyone. Sorry if I wasn't clear enough there.

[ Well, anyway, as far as he could tell, they had searched the room enough. ]

...I didn't find much else other than what I've told you, so I believe we can leave this room alone for now.

[personal profile] silentscout 2020-11-29 07:01 pm (UTC)(link)
Not just us. Everyone outside of here too.

[He's talking about the aliens spreading past their group and out into the world. That is something he definitely wants to prevent.

But he nods at the second part, they can go explore other locations too.
]

Of course.

[ It'd be real troublesome if these things spread further; the natural consequence giving their circumstances a heavy weight. Once they've made their way back into the hall, it is an easy thing to find their way to the archives, eventually. ]

It looks like we're going to continue to need adapting to the technology here.

[ He'll say as he picked up one of the tablets out of curiosity...it made him think of a cellphone and laptop combination. ]
