3, 2, 1...

WAKE UP
The soft, rhythmic whoosh, whoosh of air is what you hear first, perhaps it's a breeze? The cyclical beep beep in the distance doesn't really jive with a lot of nature scenes, though. A moment or two later your vision comes back to you, blurry in the beginning but becoming clearer with each breath you take. All around you is an opaque blue dome, and when you can wrest your limbs to move, the blue retracts and you're met with a staid metal room.

What happened? Where are you? Your memory is fuzzier still, there being no easy way to jog it like your vision. What you can remember is that there was an accident: one minute you were in your home world, and the next you were in this foreign place surrounded by people you've never seen in your life. Not just any people—scientists, who were trying desperately to create matter, to break the laws of physics and chemistry, in order to save their world. Because their world was dying, and they had tried everything else and then some. Their experiment was a failure, but not all is lost—translocation is a valid solution, after all. They could just send all their people to a non-doomed world, and start anew. And they would have, if the machine they used to bring you here hadn't short circuited. Your combined luck isn't terrible, though, somehow, because there exists one more copy of the machine squirreled away in the space colony floating in a distant solar system somewhere, the Plan B of this dying civilization.

That's why you're here, waking up in this pod in a cloud of cold air and colder remembrances to the murmuring of other strangers around you. You don't recognize any of them (vaguely you remember something about keeping the other travelers separate for quarantine purposes), but a soothing, sonorous electronic voice interrupts your thoughts.

GOOD MORNING. WELCOME TO THE WILD DELIVERANCE. THE ONBOARD TEMPERATURE IS 25 DEGREES CENTIGRADE AND THE DAY IS SATURDAY. WE WILL BE ARRIVING AT OUR DESTINATION SHORTLY, SO PLEASE SIT BACK AND RELAX. THE CAPTAIN WELCOMES-

No I fucking don't. Wakey, wakey, you formerly comatose cryptids. We've got a bit of a problem, and no I'm not talkin' about the end of this world, or how you miss your bed and just wanna go home. It's a bit more immediate and simpler than that, ain't that grand?

There's fucking parasitic aliens on this ship and they're not friendly. Just ask our two engineers, Kelvin and Calli—wait you can't, because they're DEAD thanks to our local alien assholes.

Don't worry though, I've got a plan. But hey, if you can solve this on your own go for it—might wanna start with the basic profiles on your new fancy PDA. Maybe you can just ask someone if they're an alien? Hahahahaha.

Talk to ya later!

OOC: Welcome to Convive! All characters wake up in the pod room, completely naked, though their color coded space suit and personal effects are in a storage compartment attached to their pod. Additionally, all characters will naturally understand each other due to a totally innocuous implant!

Also, stand by to meet your friendly neighborhood NPC on Sunday at 1 PM EST. Be there or be square!

[ There's definitely braincells here but clearly they weren't being used. Anyway. ]

...Yes, to fighting off aliens and getting out of here.

[ Once their cups met, it was time to take a gulp. Down the hatch!

...

He'll make a face. Look, he didn't think having a healthy lifestyle was a bad thing, but... ]

That was terrible. Don't tell me the captain or someone else thought of putting kale coffee here as a healthy alternative...

[ Ah. Ah.

This is it. This is how he's going to die: death by kale coffee. Akira feels himself descending, and there's a strained "mmph!" from disgust as he forces himself to swallow the coffee down.
]

It must've been the aliens. There's no other explanation for this.

[ This was even worse than when a certain someone introduced a certain non-alcoholic but terrible drink to him as a great idea for a prank.

Kind of. ]

If that's true, it's bad enough we were kidnapped by people we don't know...now we'd be dealing with blood-thirsty aliens sabotaging our drinks.

Nothing is sacred.

Nothing. There's no salvation for us here.

[ They're so melodramatic. ]

Should we leave the rest of the green ones here?

[ Should they let other people join them in their suffering... ]

What a terrible fate we've been met with.

[ Very much so. ]

Why not? There's the option of telling them, but why ruin the surprise?

[ It's not like it's piss they're drinking or something else terrible, as far as he's concerned. People could handle a little kale coffee. ]

Alright. They can join the club on their own time.

[ Terrible. Both of them are terrible. ]

I'm going to sit down and drink some of the better-tasting coffee. You're free to join me if you'd like.

[ Though those chairs don't look super comfy. ]

[ A wonderful and terrible gift to this earth. Or spaceship, as it were. ]

I'll join you. There's probably some things we'll need to talk about, other than questionable choices for coffee.

[ He also still needed to finish his sweet coffee from earlier, so. He'll wait for Akira to sit down at a table and he'll join as well as start. ]

Did you have a chance to look at the profiles, yet?

[personal profile] hyping 2020-11-28 08:23 pm (UTC)(link)
Good idea.

[ He really does feel like he should talk to everyone at least once to get their thoughts on their situation. As soon as Giorno joins him and asks his question, Akira nods. ]

I did. ... What do you make of all that?
requiemsoftly: (I suoni che vibrano nell’aria tesa.)

[personal profile] requiemsoftly 2020-11-28 08:34 pm (UTC)(link)
That it's suspicious. It seems like it's too well-prepared for my liking. Or maybe I think this because everything seems like it happened too fast.

[ The first two things that came to mind. He already was very much not-okay with being brought to this place even BEFORE "aliens" came into play, accident or not. Honestly, they hadn't even seen those things yet so he was even hesitant to believe that claim, but...

He had a feeling that something could happen to change that. Apparently two people were dead, so they'll likely see evidence of that at some point... ]

And as for our situation, we should start asking more questions of our Captain whenever that 'plan' is enacted, or before it if we have the chance. I wasn't even aware it was possible to travel in space, if that's where we really are.

Your thoughts?

It does seem that way.

[ He won't argue with that. Those memories about the scientists certainly aren't ones he feels like he really experienced, but that might also just be a side effect of all the disbelief he's going through right now. ]

I agree. I don't like that the Captain's keeping us hanging, so we'll need to find some way to communicate with them -- independent of the aliens, but that might be impossible.

[ He can understand why the Captain's not disclosing the plan, given that there are parasitic aliens among them, at least. Still, though... ]

I don't trust them just yet.
requiemsoftly: (il suono adesso comincia a svegliarsi.)

[personal profile] requiemsoftly 2020-11-29 02:25 am (UTC)(link)
[ There was still time for the captain to prove he was being honest, but until then...his sentiments were the same. ]

If that captain even has a slim hope of us emerging from this situation alive...they should be ready to keep in contact with us somehow.

[ Giorno would be keeping a calm and cool head despite the precarious situation, as he was wont to do, but at the very least he intended to be honest about how he felt about his evaluation here. ]

Well, that's all I have for the moment, and I doubt we can make much else of any of this either, besides the fact that the technology here used seems to be rather advanced. I'll still keep my thoughts reserved about how prepared they really are, seeing as we're here because of an 'accident', but it's definitely noteworthy and will take some getting used to.

[ Akira can agree with that, too. He nods at Giorno again, indicating that they're on the same page. ]

Space technology exists where I'm from, but I can't say I've used it before.

[ He's a nasty crime boy, not an astronaut. ]

We'll wait and see what happens. Maybe the Captain will show themselves.
